The LSU AgCenter Biotechnology Laboratory is actively involved with biotechnology research, sharing resources as indicated below:
- Formally affiliated with the LSU AgCenter with shared resources and expertise, ABL is assisting with the design and implementation of innovative biotechnology strategies for Louisiana.
- A rapidly expanding research program in agricultural molecular biology with faculty, staff, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows representing all plant and animal sciences.
- Louisiana has the necessary resources to develop biotechnology including abundant natural resources, a statewide system of universities, medical schools, and an extensive community college system. The state's traditional agriculture, forestry and food processing industries can benefit from biotechnology.
- ABL has state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, with excellent Internet and support facilities.
- Active research programs in the related areas of genetic transformation technologies, molecular animal and plant breeding technologies (including Arabidopsis model plant transformation, rice and sugarcane transformation, mice and catfish transformation) and other related molecular technologies.
